Powell Construction Company was founded in 1969 as a crane and steel erection company. In 1973, other divisions were created, including mineral processing and construction, and in 1996 Powell Sales was formed to provide service in West Virginia. These divisions are strategically located to serve our customers with efficiency and to complete our projects safely and on schedule with on-the-job project management.
In 1983, Decanter Machine, Inc. was formed. Decanter has emerged as a leading national and international manufacturer of horizontal centrifuges (liquid/solid separation machines). ISO 9002-certified, Decanter operates a manufacturing facility that provides new, rebuilt, and repaired equipment as well as field service around the world.
In order to meet the high demands of working efficiently in a modern digital age, Powell Companies employs highly-trained staff to manage the computers systems that service the entire organization. As a result, Powell Technologies, Inc. was formed in 2002, and has grown to become one of the area's premier computer and networking technology service providers, offering area businesses exceptional quality and commitment to integrity.
Headquartered in Johnson City, Tennessee, Powell Companies also has locations in Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee; Beckley, West Virginia; and Roebuck and Charleston, South Carolina. Powell's highly-skilled staff of professional millwrights, ironworkers, welders, pipe-fitters and carpenters, supported by a modern fleet of cranes with capacities up to 300 tons, brings to its customers the latest technology and superior workmanship.
