1969 marks the beginning of Powell Crane and Steel Erection Company. For four decades, Powell Cranes has been a leader in its field and is known throughout the Southeast.

From the smallest to the largest projects, Powell completes the job safely and on schedule. The modern fleet of cranes includes:

• Up to 28-ton capacity boom trucks
• 22-ton to 300-ton capacity all-terrain machines
• Up to 150-ton capacity conventional truck cranes

What began as a single crane rental division, operating in upper-East Tennessee, has grown to serve the needs of its expanding customer base in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Alabama, and Kentucky with offices in Johnson City and Knoxville, Tennessee.

Affirmative control and minimization of risk to the greatest possible extent is our philosophy. We believe production and sales are important, but only to the degree of how safely each job is performed. Powell Companies has two full-time safety professionals and is committed to a drug-free workforce, following federal guidelines for testing of all our employees.

Our professional NCCCO-certified crane operators are highly skilled and receive continuous training in all facets of the crane industry.

For more than 40 years, our commitment has remained the same: we design and construct each project in the least amount of time needed and within our customer's budget.
